Trench Coats

When it comes to spring weather in the Midwest, expect the unexpected. Last week it was 70 degrees and today there is snow on the ground. The key to this weather is having a light weight coat on hand to transition between these crazy temps.

The classic trench coat has been around for decades. Polished and chic, they add just enough warmth and are weather proof to whatever rain or snow mother nature decides to throw at us.

I bought mine at Kohl’s this season, proving you don’t need to spend a lot on a classic item that will stand the test of time.

Simple black leggings add shape to the lower half to create a slimming look. The ones I’m wearing are from Kate Spade (now on sale!)  and my black boots are by Steve Madden.

And here’s a little history for ya, Thomas Burberry was the man who first introduced the classic design. And in the years since countless brands at all price points have yet to change the chic and sophisticated staple.

How adorable his the scalloped collar?

If you’re in the market for trench, I’d recommend purchasing one with a tie at the waist. It allows you to customize the shape to make it figure flattering on all body types.DSC_3759

From Jackie Kennedy, Audrey Hepburn all the way to Gwyneth Paltrow and Princess Catherine, it’s safe to say the trench isn’t going anywhere. But I can’t leave without linking some jackets below that get the iconic look.

Sarah
